Everlasting love and a purr-fect match

September 19, 2023

After losing her beloved cat 18 months ago, Verna was ready to explore the idea of having another pet. She decided that an older cat that, like her, had “slowed down a bit” would be the best fit for her.

Whilst searching the RSPCA adoption pages, Verna spotted Cleo and felt an instant connection. She soon learned that Cleo was part of our Home Ever After (HEA) program, a legacy service that we provide for anyone with a pet. All we ask in return is that you leave a gift in your will for animals, just like Cleo’s former owner Joan kindly did – so that her love for Cleo, and all animals, could live on.

Cleo has been a welcome and much-loved addition to Verna’s life

Thanks to the detailed care instructions Joan provided when she registered for HEA, Verna understood that Cleo required patience and understanding to ensure she had a happy life.

“Cleo was very timid at first, hiding for several days, but she gradually came round and now rules the roost. She is such good company – I have never had a cat that makes me laugh so much!”

It is because of wonderful supporters like you that we can rehome pets like Cleo after their beloved owners pass away. Thank you for giving Cleo and Verna a chance to find happiness together, and for making this purr-fect ending possible.

It is so wonderful to hear the good news about our four legged friends. The volunteers are amazing people giving their time and love to so many animals with heart breaking backgrounds. I had a wonderful surprise when reading the lastest rspca magazine as I donated to the rspca Guardian Angel appeal last Decemberand was given a photo of Clarence a beautiful 3 year old cross breed and a week later I was told I had bowel cancer so I went to Ashford Hospital and took the photo of Clarence with me. He became very well known to nursing staff as Clarence and I remained in hospital for two months after a few problems health wise occurred, it was so special to have his photo there and I would tell him he was my guardian Angel. I fell in love with Clarencebut not well enough to be able to care for him at this stage. Anyway we had Xmas dinner in hospital together. It was absolutely beautiful to see that in your last publication that low and behold a photo of Clarence and his new adoptive family appeared. I would like if possible to let his new owners if possible how much Clarence helped me through my health problems and tell him I am doing ok at the moment. Thankyou rspca and Clarence.
