Thanks to your feedback, bookings are NOT required and we will be welcoming walk-ins only. In saying this, we ask that prior to visiting you have a browse through our adoption pages and decide on which dog/s you are interested in meeting.

Step 3

Visit

Visit the facility to speak with the staff and meet the animal you are looking to adopt. RSPCA animals can be adopted from a number of locations including our three animal care centres and participating Petbarn locations.

Note for dog adoptions: Although there is no booking system in place, on arrival, you will still be asked to select the dogs you wish to meet. You will then have a one-on-one appointment with an adoption consultant who will arrange for you to meet a dog. This means that there may be a wait and you won’t be able to browse all of the dogs we have available for adoption. Our adoption pages are a good place to check if the dog you’re interested in is still available. If your first choice has found a home, we promise there are plenty more deserving animals waiting to meet you!

Make a life-saving difference by adopting from RSPCA

Thousands of animals need RSPCA South Australia’s help every year. We’re only able to rehome these animals thanks to the support of loyal supporters like you – thanks for your interest in making a life-saving difference! To make it easier for you to find your perfect forever friend, all our animals available for adoption are listed here on our website.

How we help connect you with the perfect fur-ever friend

At RSPCA South Australia, we always look to match the right animal with the right owner. We offer personalised advice about which animal best suits a person’s lifestyle and personality.

Pre-adoption

If you have decided you are ready to welcome a rescue animal into your life, you can view the animals we have available for adoption on our adoption pages. While our adoption pages are updated frequently every day, there is a chance that a specific animal you are interested in will have found a home prior to your arrival at our shelter — so please keep this in mind before making the trip.

Adoption

When you arrive, a staff member will greet you at the facility and show you to the animals you are interested in adopting. Please be aware that there may be a short wait during busy periods.

During your appointment you will be introduced to the animal you are interested in, and given time to interact with them to help you understand their personality and behaviour. This is the time to ask any questions that will help you decide if you and your animal would be a good match.

Post-adoption

If you’ve chosen to adopt by the end of your appointment the team will now begin processing your adoption and preparing your animal for their new home!

The adoption process doesn’t end once an animal leaves one of our shelters. Our staff provide advice to new owners on general pet care including dietary requirements, and are also available for further advice in the days, weeks and months following adoption, as the animal settles into their new home.
