Thank you to everyone who has made their submissions, consultation has now concluded.

With your support, we can help build a better future for the animals of South Australia.

This could be your only chance

South Australia’s Animal Welfare Act 1985 is the main legal mechanism to protect animals in this state, and it has been close to 15 years since it has been reviewed.

During that time, our understanding of animals’ sentience and their needs have evolved. We are now one of the last states to begin improving the legal requirements for how animals are handled and treated.

In addition to this, in a recent RSPCA Australia review of the animal welfare laws around the county, South Australia came out with some of the weakest animal welfare legislation in Australia.

This is your chance to make change

RSPCA South Australia is now calling on caring and passionate animal-lovers like you, to get involved and make your own submissions to the review of the Animal Welfare Act 1985.

This is a vital and rare opportunity to highlight the changes you feel most strongly about, so we urge you to make a submission if you want to see changes to better protect South Australian animals.

RSPCA SA will be recommending several changes to the Act, some of which have the potential to improve the lives of millions of animals in our state.

If you need some guidance on what to include in your submission, consider including some of the issues explained HERE
