RSPCA SA Adoption Hub at West Lakes

March 31, 2023

West Lakes Adoption Hub has CLOSED!

The temporary lease at our West Lakes Adoption Hub has come to an end, and so, the Adoption Hub will be closed from Thursday 30 November 2023. The RSPCA Kiosk at Westfield West Lakes will remain open until Friday 29 December 2023, selling pet food and accessories.

Since opening in April 2023, a total of 236 cats, kittens, guinea pigs, rabbits, and dogs have found their forever home at our West Lakes Adoption Hub. Thank you so much to everyone who visited and/or adopted an animal in need from our Adoption Hub, we’re so thankful for your support.

Go West! More animals will make it into their forever homes with a new RSPCA Adoption Hub opening at Westfield West Lakes this weekend.

Residents living in the western suburbs will soon find it easier to meet and adopt furry family members when doors open on Saturday 1 April.

Located within the former West Lakes Community Centre on the corner of Brebner Drive and West Lakes Boulevard, the adoption hub opens tomorrow at 10am (see below for all opening times). At this stage, the hub will prioritise cats and kittens due to the high number of felines currently in care.

RSPCA SA Head of Animal Operations, Billy Tubman, said the new hub reflects the organisation’s determination to make adopting rescue animals as easy as possible and to reduce the number of animals in care – and the length of their stay.

“We’re thrilled to be opening at Westfield West Lakes this weekend and we’re very grateful to Westfield for offering the space to us.

“Our goal is to help get these beautiful rescue animals into good homes – some of our cats have been languishing at the still overcrowded Lonsdale shelter for nearly a year.

“Bringing them to this prominent near-city site, that will be open seven days a week, will give them a much better chance of meeting people who want to adopt but who perhaps find it difficult to get to Lonsdale.”

At any one time, the Centre will have between 12 and 20 cats and kittens available to meet. All animals are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, health-checked and up to date with parasite prevention. The adoption fee for kittens is $249 and for adult cats is $79

The RSPCA Adoption Hub will also house rabbits.
