Glenelg pop-up shop opens for adoptions this Caturday
October 12, 2017Calling all cat lovers! As summer approaches and kitten season begins, cats are getting cuddly … so much so, that RSPCA South Australia is bursting with feline friends who need a home.
That’s why, for the first time ever, we’re opening a new pop-up adoption shop in Glenelg this weekend. There will be furry faces a plenty on Jetty Road, with a collection of up to 50 cats ready for a new forever family.
With statistics showing a 20 per cent increase of cats in RSPCA South Australia’s care compared to this time last year, the Lonsdale shelter is full of adult cats — and more kittens will soon be on the way.
Animal Operations Executive Manager Tim Charles hopes the pop-up shop’s iconic location will encourage you to come down and adopt a beautiful rescue.
“We know that our Lonsdale Shelter, located south of Adelaide, can be difficult for some potential pet owners to access,” he says.
“There is no ‘time limit’ for an animal at RSPCA South Australia. We will provide the best possible care for animals as long as it takes for them to find a home. This means we have to seek new and innovative approaches to rehoming – including bringing adoptions cats closer to new homes.”
Our pop-up adoption shop is located at 71A Jetty Road, Glenelg. Pop down and check it out from 10am to 4pm this Saturday, October 14 through to next Saturday October, 21.
All cats will be available for an adoption fee of $100 and are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, up-to-date with parasite prevention and vet-checked. All cats currently available for adoption are listed online here.
So come down for a Caturday or a beautiful spring Sunday and meet our meowing muses — you’re bound to fall in love with their adorably adoptive faces! (And a huge thanks to Taplin Real Estate for generously providing our pop-up adoption shop space.)
We are interested in a cat which we saw on the news tonight. I think it may be either Ashie or Madam…it appeared to be a Russian Blue cross? Can you please let us know. We have a 1 year old female Russian Blue/Siamese we rescued who is very oriented to one member of our household! Not sure if we would be better off getting another female or male? Any suggestions gratefully accepted. We will be down tomorrow anyway. Thanks.

G’day I’m looking at adopting a little black kitten for my girlfriend and myself. I’m more than happy to pay for vaccines and such. I have previously owned 3 cats which have all lived out to around 15-16 years. I also believe we can provide the correct environment as we have a lot of indoor space for our other cat. If anything suits description could you please let me know.
Hi Jaxon, that’s great news! We do have many cats and kittens looking for their forever homes, you can find them all here: http://www.rspcasa.org.au/adopt-a-pet/ Thank you!
