RSPCA South Australia’s doors will remain wide open into the evening this Friday during a Twilight Cat Adoption event helping the many rescue cats and kittens in our care find loving homes for Christmas.
The one-off event will be held this Friday, December 15 at our Lonsdale shelter, with usual opening hours extended to 8pm.
With the weather warming up and kitten season upon us, the number of kittens and cats in care has dramatically increased. We now have almost 100 cats looking for homes right now statewide, with another 500 in care who are likely to become available for adoption over the coming days and weeks.
The hope is to find homes for at least 30 felines at this Friday’s twilight event. As always, all cats will be microchipped, desexed, vaccinated and up-to-date with parasite prevention – ready for a wonderful life with their new families.
RSPCA South Australia Animal Operations Executive Tim Charles urged locals to come down to the fun event, cuddle a rescue cat and maybe even take home a new family member. Every adopted cat will go home with a free Christmas gift, we’ll be offering 10% off all pet accessories and some yummy food will also be on offer to attract families to Lonsdale.
However, Mr Charles urged prospective adopters to remember that pets are a long-term commitment and not just for Christmas.
“When making the decision to adopt, consider their suitability to your home, lifestyle and family,” he said.
Beyond the twilight event, RSPCA Lonsdale will be open every day throughout the festive season, closing only on Christmas Day, as we continue to urgently seek homes for felines in need.
RSPCA has also called for donations to help our wonderful team of foster care volunteers look after the many needy kittens now in care.
Donations of baby wipes, fleece baby blankets, Snugglesafe heat pads, heartbeat simulators or contributions of monetary value are gratefully accepted.
These can be dropped off at RSPCA Lonsdale, the Stepney head office or any of RSPCA’s six op shop locations at Prospect, Marden, Blackwood, Brighton, Warradale and Semaphore.
This Christmas, RSPCA South Australia encourages you to choose to care and adopt a life-ready cat – it might just be the highlight of your festive season.
