SAPOL’s blanket drive is warming hearts and kennels at Lonsdale

June 30, 2022

Have you hit your snooze alarm a few more times than normal lately? It can be an absolute struggle to climb out of the warmth of your bed during an icy winter morning. Imagine how difficult it has been for the dogs and cats at RSPCA who sleep in semi-enclosed shelters!

This has definitely been weighing on the mind of Constable Wilson from Holden Hill police station who felt compelled to step into action, after reading about our Winter Emergency Appeal.

Constable Wilson received a massive response after putting a call out to her fellow officers and was flooded with donations from Holden Hill, Grenfell Street, Hindley Street and the City Watch House.

Constable Wilson was able to raise an entire car load’s worth of donations.

Constable Johnston was also there to help unload the mountain of toys and bedding.

Kat from the dog care team couldn’t have been happier to show off all the shiny new toys with gorgeous Rusty.

Willow was very excited to try out her new warm bedding!

We would also like to notify the public that we are now choc-a-bloc with blankets and won’t be needing any more bedding for the time being. Thank you, Constable Wilson, Johnston and everyone else from SAPOL who generously donated.
