RSPCA mourns the passing of Jill Bottrall

April 19, 2022

The RSPCA is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of board member Jill Bottrall. Jill passed away last Saturday after a short battle with cancer. She was 62.

A former political adviser and communication specialist, Jill joined the board of RSPCA South Australia and the board of the national body, RSPCA Australia, in 2014.

Jill’s passion for animal welfare was obvious to anyone who met her.

It was not only this commitment to improving the lives of animals, but also her expertise and command of working with government and the media, that made Jill such an asset to the RSPCA.

In her more than seven years on the RSPCA Australia board, Jill helped provide not just strategic oversight of RSPCA policy, programs and activities, but advice, encouragement and support for our team.

Jill was also a member of multiple RSPCA committees, including the Capital Campaign Committee spearheading the raising of funds to build RSPCA South Australia’s new home within Glenthorne National Park at O’Halloran Hill. The securing of the seven-hectare site late last year was greatly satisfying to Jill, who was a major supporter of the project.

Jill continued to serve on both RSPCA Australia and RSPCA South Australia boards right up until a few weeks ago.

On behalf of the RSPCA team, we send our sincere condolences to Jill’s family and friends. We grieve the sudden and premature loss of this intelligent, kind-hearted and generous individual who gave so much to make the world a better place for animals.
