Kobe arrived at our Lonsdale shelter last November with a leg so badly broken that he’d been left unable to walk for days.
We’ll never quite know just how, but a wooden post had fallen on top of poor Kobe, and several days had passed since he was surrendered into our care.
Unable to bare weight on his right front leg, the beautiful 18-month-old pup was in so much pain.
But – with some financial help from our wonderful supporters, Kobe underwent emergency specialist veterinary treatment to save his leg, and what an achievement it was.
Once unable to walk, let alone run, Kobe recovered so well from his treatment that he now can’t stop running around with his new family!
Wonderful support helps Kobe get up and running with his fully healed leg
From the moment Kobe arrived in our care, our skilled veterinary team took special care with the energetic yet wounded pup.
After providing Kobe with pain relief and applying a splint to his broken leg., our vets enlisted the help of a highly skilled specialist Adelaide vet.
Of course, Kobe’s extensive treatment and rehabilitation did come at a cost to our charity, so we reached out for help. The response to Kobe’s story warmed our hearts, and it was simply touching to see the support of those who wanted to help him recover.
A new life was right around the corner for this playful pup.
Now king of the jungle, Kobe loves life with his new family
Kobe’s beautiful caramel coat and charming hazel eyes caught not only our attention – but they captured the gaze of a very special supporter of ours.
At the beginning of this year, couple Ashley and Steph couldn’t resist welcoming gorgeous Kobe into their family.
Steph instantly fell in love with Kobe when she saw him on our website, and pestered Ashley for two weeks to adopt him.
Of course, Ashley eventually gave in. (And how could he not? Just look at that gorgeous face.)
Playful Kobe just loves the attention his new family gives him, especially when he gets more attention than Ashley himself!
“At night he lays on the couch with us and gets more attention than I do from my partner,” Ashley tells us.
“Kobe comes everywhere with us – he’s also come on a couple of trips interstate,” he adds.
Not only does Kobe love snuggling up on the couch, he also enjoys walking down the beach, sinking his paws into the sand.
And that’s not all – with his totally healed leg, he loves running around the yard.
“Kobe spends his days walking down the beach and running around the yard,” Ashley says.
But Kobe would not have been able to do any of this if it weren’t for the time and care spent helping recover his injured leg, and the support he received from so many kind-hearted South Australians.
‘Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to adopt such a beautiful dog’
As Kobe continues to settle down into his new home, Ashley wants to express his gratitude to those who helped save his beautiful fur baby’s leg.
“To everyone who helped pay for his leg treatment, we would like to say thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to adopt such a beautiful dog,” Ashley said.
“He is such a character with his own quirky personality.”
And we just know that Kobe is being treated the way he deserves. We mean – with that beautiful coat of his, he even looks like royalty.
“He is treated like a king in his new home,” Ashley said
“And that wouldn’t be possible without the help of your donations.”
It’s just beautiful to see Kobe up on his paws again – and we know for sure that the adventures he goes on with his new family are pain free, and ones to remember.
Thank you Ashley and Steph, and thank you to everyone who supported Kobe’s recovery.
From the bottom of our hearts, we’re so grateful to all our supporters who made Kobe’s new life with Ashley and Steph a reality. If you’d like to continue helping animals just like Kobe, head over here to see our current emergency appeals.
