Ruby’s rescue!

March 31, 2017

“Hi! I’m Ruby and my favourite game is hide and seek. In fact I was playing with my brothers and sisters a week ago and I found a really good spot!  I thought they would never think to look between the outer walls of someone’s house – I was right! I’m not sure how I found such a good hiding place, I liked it for the first day but then I started to get hungry! I waited and waited for my family to find me…but they never came. I was all alone.

I tried to call out – I think the human heard me! But then no one came. I got so lonely waiting – I guess I’m better at hide and seek than I thought! After so long alone I started getting scared (and hungry!) what if no one found me! So I began to yell out. This time the human definitely heard me and started to hammer away at his own house to find me! I found out later that he even made a big whole in his wall to try and get me out!

It turns out my hiding spot proved too good because he was hammering in the wrong spot. He had to call the nice man at RSPCA to help. But the RSPCA man couldn’t break through the brick where I was trapped! So the nice neighbour brought over his chisel and all three humans were working away at the bricks to get me out. It was a group effort to save me!

I finally saw light through the brick. The humans were making a hole for me! That’s when I saw the food – FOOD! FOR ME! I was so hungry so I ate lots. The nice RSPCA man pulled me out and gave me more food. Did I mention I like food?! He said I was such a friendly little kitten, I wasn’t scared anymore.

Now I am in foster care and I get to live inside the house walls! I’m still playing hide and seek, but I like to make it easier on my adopted brothers and sisters so they can find me.”
