It’s easy on your bank balance, kind to the environment and you’re helping 10,000 vulnerable animals who enter RSPCA South Australia’s care every year. All while giving you a retail therapy high!

With op shops sprawled across metropolitan Adelaide, there is surely a store near you. Here is a handy guide to some of the best op shops in town – showcasing their best quirks and what they are most popular for. So what are you waiting for? Come along and visit an op shop as a way of celebrating the warmer weather!

Kate and Buddy

RSPCA Blackwood Op Shop

Tucked away in a little array of shops in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, you will always find a treasure at Blackwood. Don’t be fooled by its small size – this op shop has lots of heart and soul, and it’s always packed to the rafters.

Bonus point: it’s also known for selling designer items at low prices. You’re likely to find anything from Tigerlily to Karen Walker at a fraction of the original price. Replenished daily by the team of friendly volunteers, Blackwood is every op shopper’s dream.

Location: Blackwood Plaza, 168-170 Main Road, Blackwood

RSPCA Brighton Op Shop

You can find our most southerly store in the beachside suburb of Brighton – where we have been for over 40 years. The Brighton Op Shop is home to RSPCA’s longest serving volunteer team, including the lovely Regina, who has kindly donated the past 42 years of her life volunteering to help animals in need.

Just down from the intersection of Brighton Road and Jetty Road, this store is filled with quirky finds and an assortment of different pot plants – all at bargain prices. Conveniently enough, Brighton also has some of Adelaide’s best cafes down on Jetty Road. So come down, grab a cuppa and thrift to your heart’s content.

Location: 455 Brighton Road, Brighton

Kidman Park

RSPCA Kidman Park Op Shop Superstore

Kidman Park is the latest addition to RSPCA South Australia’s growing op shop network. It’s also the first superstore solely dedicated to helping animal welfare in South Australia!

Launching just last month, Kidman Park has some serious wow factor. Think open spaces, an abundance of natural light, modern themes and curated good-quality fashion. Grab a book, sit down and relax in one of the comfy chairs in the book corner. Or browse the large homeware collection to the front of the store. There’s also a section solely dedicated to vintage. Already labelled the “treasure-hunter’s paradise” by many customers, this op shop is every vintage die-hard fan’s dream.

One of the best finds at Kidman Park so far? A Vladimir Tretchikoff print in perfect condition!

If you haven’t visited the Kidman Park op shop yet, you are missing out. You can find our RSPCA Superstore at Adelaide’s “Harbour town of op shops”, just west of the intersection of Grange and Findon roads. While you’re there, you can also visit the other three surrounding charity superstores. Make it a day out with the gals!

Location: 322 Grange Road, Kidman Park

Marden Op Shop

RSPCA Marden Op Shop

Another newbie to our op shop chain, Marden launched in late 2017. Tucked away near the entrance to the escalators at Marden Shopping Centre, this store boasts a spacious modern layout and friendly volunteers. You’ll find great fashion, especially women’s and kids’ wares.

It’s little wonder our Marden Op Shop was a finalist for Best Fashion Retailer in the 2018 Eastside Business Awards! If you want to experience a sense of community spirit and score awesome pre-loved bargains, look no further.

Location: Marden Shopping Centre, Lower Portrush Road, Marden (left to the main entry, by the car park)

Volunteers at Prospect op shop

RSPCA Semaphore Op Shop

A highly popular location in summer, the Semaphore store is within walking distance to trendy cafes and the picturesque Semaphore Beach. An up-and-coming area, our store is filled with hip clothing and unique bricabrac at low prices. From everything to Aboriginal art, antique jewellery and designer clothes, there is something for everyone here.

Attention bookworms: a few long-term volunteers specialise in books. You can tell by the quality and diverse choice on the bookshelves. So, while you head to the beach this summer, make sure to stop off at the Semaphore Op Shop to grab a bargain and support a great cause at the same time.

Location: 106 Semaphore Road, Semaphore

Dogs at our op shops!

Need more convincing? A $5 purchase at one of our RSPCA op shops is enough to give one animal in need three nights of warmth and care at our shelters. Now that’s a gift that makes a difference!
